Andre W. Allen is a very proud native of Peoria, Illinois, and alumni of Peoria Public Schools. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and Master of Science in Sports Administration both from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois. Andre began his doctoral studies journey at Illinois State University in Fall 2019, pursuing a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration.
Andre has over eight years of progressive higher education experience, working for both public and private institutions in a variety of roles/areas including academic advising, residential life, student activities, student retention, and senior-level administration.
He enjoys participating in a variety of civic engagement and volunteer opportunities in his spare time, serving on multiple boards and committees including the Police-Community Relations Advisory Committee( Chairman), Peoria Public Schools Foundation, Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce, Young Professionals of Greater Peoria, and a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Kappa Pi Lambda Chapter of Peoria, Illinois. Andre was selected out of more than 150 nominations, as one of Greater Peoria’s top leaders—a member of the 2018 class of 40 Leaders Under Forty sponsored by InterBusiness Issues Magazine (IBI).
In April of 2019, Andre ran for Peoria City Council At-Large and campaigned for one of five seats available. Ultimately he finished 6th out of 15 candidates in his first attempt for elected office. Andre is married to his college sweetheart Jaleesha Allen and they have three children, two daughters and one son.
On September 17th, 2020, Andre announced his candidacy for Peoria City Council, District 4. This election will take place in the Spring of 2021.
